What is Couples Therapy?
We long to feel connection, passion and safety in relationships, but intimate partnerships can sometimes be the source of profound pain if we end up feeling hurt, disappointment or betrayal. Many relationships become problematic or unfulfilling due to negative interactional patterns that inhibit intimacy and keep couples stuck in unhealthy ways of communicating. Therapy may be helpful to establish healthy communication, strengthen a couple’s overall connection, and help couples thrive in their relationships.

Our couples therapy approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), founded by
Sue Johnson. With more than 25 years of research, EFT uses attachment-based
interventions to repair and heal the underlying causes of couples’ distress so that each partner feels more connected and cared for within their relationship. During the course of EFT, couples
learn to understand each other more deeply, strengthen their emotional bond, repair ruptures, and improve their communication.
Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together.
Couples are the nucleus of a family and their relationship with one another is the most important aspect of a healthy family dynamic. Whether a relationship is in crisis or simply needs improved communication, EFT can help couples restore intimacy, establish healthy interactional patterns, and flourish in their partnership.
