Karla is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Associate Professional Counselor (APC) who earned her Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Brenau University.
As a bilingual therapist, she is passionate about supporting the Hispanic/Latino community while welcoming individuals from all backgrounds.
She provides services to clients of all ages and is trained in expressive arts therapy and play therapy, allowing her to effectively support children in developmentally appropriate ways. Her experience in victim advocacy and court-ordered services informs her compassionate approach to helping individuals and families navigate challenging and overwhelming situations. She has worked extensively with children and families in the foster care system and supports clients facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic violence, substance use, life transitions, and parenting-related stressors.
Her approach is Person-Centered, creating a space where clients feel heard, understood, and comfortable being themselves. She collaborates with clients to tailor treatment to their unique needs and goals, while valuing cultural sensitivity and providing care that respects each client’s background and lived experience. She also incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients build practical tools for everyday life. She enjoys the work she does and feels honored to walk alongside her clients in their healing journey.
She currently practices under the supervision of Lisa Southerland, MA, LPC, CPCS.
