Karen Parey
SUPERVISED THERAPIST
I specialize in working with children, adolescents, couples, and families. I provide both directive and nondirective play therapy. I work through a lense of emotions focused therapy called Experiential Therapy. I strive to provide an environment where all my clients feel safe to explore, express and better understand themselves and their emotions. I find creativity to be a vital way to express oneself and often use art in session especially with children and adolescent clients.
I am trained as a Marriage and Family therapist and enjoy working with relational cases such as couples, families and the parent-child relationship. I believe that relationships shape a large part of our lives and when not functioning well can cause distress in many aspects of our lives. I am passionate about improving communication within relationships and helping each person in a partnership or family feel heard and understood.

Before attending Mercer University for my training in Marriage and Family Therapy, I earned my Master of Divinity from Emory University where I did extensive work in pastoral care and specifically worked with people experiencing significant illness, death, and grief. My experience working in churches and higher education has allowed me to be with people in some of their most difficult moments and gain insight about the importance of support, tools, and a listening ear in healing, growth and continuing forward.
I am currently working towards licensure as a LMFT in Georgia. Karen is under supervision with Jennifer Mejias, LMFT.
